General Information

Spectator Information

Please pass this information along to your players, parents and fans who may come to the tournament.

  1. Charcoal fires are not permitted at any of the tournament sites. If you wish to cook, please plan on using gas grills.
  2. Concessions will be available at Cass Park, Dryden High School and at Ithaca High School.
  3. Bathrooms with running water are located in Cass Park at the north end of the hockey rink, to the right of the garage door, and also at the building adjacent to the concessions tent. Port-a-johns will be available at each site.
  4. There is NO PARKING in the lot adjacent to the main entrance of the hockey rink at Cass Park. This lot is reserved for people using the rink for skating. Cars may not park on the bike trail which runs through Cass Park and alongside Union Fields. Those that do so risk being ticketed and/or towed. Extra parking is available at Union Fields, Hangar Theater and Treman State Park, just north of fields 1 & 5.

Assorted Details

  1. Referees have been specifically instructed to carefully monitor the stick checking and body checking, especially as teams progress to their later games. Coaches should notify their players (and take note of it themselves) that this will be the case and to expect it. Safety is the Turkeyshoot's foremost concern at all times.
  2. Each varsity team is responsible for moving their goal to any blacktop area closest to their field at the conclusion of their final game on Sunday. The Turkeyshoot staff thanks you for this small favor.
  3. Trainers will be available at all field locations (look for the bright pink shirts). Please pass word along to the concessions tent if you cannot readily locate a trainer when you have a need.
  4. The final game schedule will be posted on this website by the Monday which precedes tournament weekend. Be sure to print out a copy of it and bring it with you to the tournament. It will tell you which field to report to for each round of games.
  5. All players must currently be enrolled in high school or prep school. All players should come dressed ready to play or change clothes in their cars. Locker rooms will not be available.
  6. Final results of all games will be posted on this web site during the week after the tournament.
  7. The team entry fee is non-refundable if the tournament has to be cancelled due to inclement weather. Weather bad enough to cause cancellation is limited to: extreme cold (lower than 32F for the entire day), flooding or more than two inches of snow covering the fields. BECAUSE CASS PARK AND ITHACA HIGH ARE SITUATED IN A VALLEY ON CAYUGA LAKE, THE WEATHER THERE IS MUCH MILDER THAN EVEN ONLY TWO MILES AWAY UP ON THE HILLS SURROUNDING THE LAKE. 1995 was a perfect example of the lake's effect as six inches of snow fell across the northeast on Saturday night yet Cass Park was only dusted. We played as scheduled beneath sunny skies and 40F temperatures. DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE TOURNAMENT MAY BE CANCELLED. CALL (607)273-2659 or keep checking this site for current information.
